New Race Date: 24th June 2018

Options and instructions for existing (and new) entrants.

We were very disappointed to have to cancel the race on Sunday, but for the safety of everyone involved it was the only decision we could make given the weather conditions at the time.

We know how disappointing this was for all of you that have entered and trained so hard. For this reason, the committee has been working over the last 48 hours to secure a new date and put in place options for our runners to be able to make the most of the new date or to transfer their entry, should they need to.

We have set out below some FAQ/instructions for runners with regard to the new date that we hope will be of help in the coming weeks.

1)I have my race number and would like to run on the new date of 24th June

We’re so glad you can join us on the new date, please put the 24th June in your diary!

Your existing entry (and race number) will carry over to the new date.

Please hold on to your race number and keep it in a safe, dry place to ensure the timing chip doesn’t become bent or damaged. (We use passive RFID technology so the chip will remain in perfect working order until the new race day of 24th June).

If you signed up to our live tracker with your Facebook profile you don’t need to do anything and your profile will be live for real time updates on the new race day. If friends or family have signed up to follow you via Facebook they may need to sign up again closer to the new date as Facebook will generally only keep these follows for 60 days. We will send a message to everyone as soon as they are able to set up to follow you on the new race date.

2) I was due to collect my running number on the morning of the race and would like to run on the new date of 24th June

We’re so glad you can join us on the new date, please put the 24th June in your diary!

Your entry will carry over to the new date.

We will keep your race number safe and it will be available for collection from the helpdesk on the morning of the new race date of 24th June.

Nearer to the event date we will send an email with full instructions for the new race day and with confirmation of your running number so that you can claim your profile in our live tracker.

3) I can’t make the new date, and would like to transfer my number to someone else

We’re sorry that you’re unable to join us on the rescheduled date and hope you understand that our decision to postpone was not taken lightly and was based on safety of everyone involved.

We’ve put in place a facility for people with entries to transfer their entry to another runner who is able to join us on 24th June.

We’ve set up a Facebook group #WilmslowHalfSwap https://www.facebook.com/groups/2095872160658173/ intended to provide a place for people who wish to transfer/sell their number to another runner. We will direct all new entry enquiries here first to make sure that those who cannot make the new date have the best possible chance to transfer their number to another runner. For this reason we will not be open for new entries online until Monday 16th April. This gives entrants who cannot use their number on 24th June almost a month in which to find someone to transfer their number to.

Once you have agreed to transfer your number to another runner (financial arrangements and physical transfer of the running bib will be between you and the new runner) you can simply click on the link in your original confirmation email and select the option to ‘substitute someone else’. You can then enter the name and email address of the new runner who will then receive a link to complete the transfer to them. If you no longer have your original confirmation email then please let us know and we can resend it to you. If you do pass your running number to someone else please be sure to complete the online transfer process so that we can identify them properly on race day.

4) I didn’t have an entry for 18th March but I would now like to run on 24th June.

That’s great! We’d love for you to be able to join us.

In order to help those runners with entries but who cannot make the new date we will not be open for brand new entries for the revised race date until Monday 16th April. In the meantime the best way to get an entry is to post in our Facebook group #WilmslowHalfSwap, dedicated to number transfer where people with race numbers they can’t use will be posting. The link to the group is here https://www.facebook.com/groups/2095872160658173/

This is the best way to secure an entry for the new date of 24th June.

5) I have an entry but can’t make the new date and would like a refund.

We’re really sorry that you’re unable to join us on the rescheduled date and hope you understand that our decision to postpone was not taken lightly and was based on safety of everyone involved.

Due to the cost incurred in postponing an event of this scale and in line with our terms and conditions, we’re unable to offer refunds.

It’s for this reason that we’ve put the facility in place to enable people to transfer their numbers to new runners, via our Facebook group #WilmslowHalfSwap. This is also why we won’t be opening for new entries until Monday16th April, to give runners that can’t make the new date a month to transfer their number to a new runner.

Please note that it will not be possible to defer 2018 entries to the 2019 race so, if you are unable to run on the new date of 24th June, please look to transfer your place using #WilmslowHalfSwap.
